Not So Typical History of A Group Currently Called Beats Flippin’ Burgers
This project started on a whim. Esa was not interested in creating melodic songs anymore. Instead he started playing small riffs in repetition. Marko took it as a challenge and spread the idea further. Thus the first musical pieces were experimental instrumentals, but a few pop song emerged every once in a while. It was kind of therapy for the makers and the listeners. There was a bit of jazz there too and other type of music, like reggae.
The name came from a catch phrase “It sure beats flipping burgers!” Marko invented an idea of two Beat poets (Jack Kerouac and Allen Ginsberg) flipping hamburgers in a restaurant kitchen.
Songs ended up on several streaming albums on Spotify and others. However, the pop concept was tempting again. Nowadays the Finnish Eurovision song contest qualification is taken care of by UMK (Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu).
The biggest burger hits so far are Morning Smile (featuring Katri), My Global Heart (featuring Emilia) and The World Is Full Of Wonders (featuring Katri). They were all sent to UMK with no entry ticket to the final.
For the current BFB-releases, Still Beats Still and Swirls For Pine, we have a lot of hope and trust. They will be the mostest pop albums of 2025! Yet they are planned to be released on streaming services only, unless they take off like a rocket.
